Customs Compliance Assistant - Fixed Term Contract
BRIEF OVERVIEW
A position for a Customs Compliance Specialist has become available at DSV, location TBC.

MAIN PURPOSE OF THE ROLE
To support the Customs Compliance Lead and Customs Compliance Managers in supporting all 3 divisions (Road, Air & Sea and Solutions) within DSV in all levels of customs activity. The Customs Compliance Specialist will be responsible for facilitating the compliance of import and export activities relating to the business, through audit activity, in accordance with all national and international regulations and controls. The candidate will be driving a high level of customs compliance and ensuring that all DSV custom compliance policies are adhered to.
KEY TASKS
Completion of customs compliance audit activity, providing feedback to the 3 DSV divisions
Creation and distribution of monthly audit report
Arranging clearance of goods into the UK as appropriate – issuing full customs clearance instructions to the agent (including Commercial Couriers) to allow for the goods' timely clearance into the UK and where necessary, authorizing payment/suspension of applicable duties/taxes
Transit – NCTS – managing transit holds, cancellations, undischarged transits, inbound transit issues
Providing customs support across the 3 DSV divisions
Logging and actioning HMRC correspondence, including Statistical queries
Managing user access for customs software and Government Gateway
Approve requests to use DSVs Excise Movement Guarantee
Supporting the issuance of security access cards
Ensuring that, where required, any import and/or export permits/licences are in place to allow for the smooth movement of goods into and out of the UK
Maintaining all supporting customs documentation for import and export consignments, completing all relevant HMRC returns, where required
Assisting with all relevant HMRC, HM Government and corporate/internal audits as required
SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
Experience in a Trade Compliance, Customs Compliance or freight forwarding, logistics, import/export orientated role
Knowledge of Customs regulations (desirable)
Experience in customs entries (desirable)
Customs Warehouse experience (desirable)
Proficient in Microsoft applications (Outlook, Excel, Word)
Ability to work under tight deadlines and KPIs
Willingness to learn
Excellent communication skills both written and verbal
